HSA goes down under

26 January 2018

In February, HSA’s Technical Director Charlie Mason will be travelling to Australia to give two presentations at RSPCA Australia’s Animal Welfare Seminar in Canberra, as well as run a seminar workshop.  The presentations are on the concept and history of humane slaughter and developments in humane killing techniques.

The seminar provides an opportunity to highlight the HSA’s current work as well as share best practice and the latest research outcomes.  Whilst in Australia Charlie will also, by invitation, be visiting a couple of slaughter house establishments for cattle and pigs as well as carrying out welfare assessments in three abattoirs in New Zealand, and giving a lecture to veterinary students at the University of Queensland.
