Abstract submission is now open! HSA Conference 2025

15 April 2025

Abstract submission is now open for the HSA Conference 2025! Alongside invited contributions, we are seeking abstract submissions from researchers and others on the latest developments in humane slaughter, transport, and emergency killing of livestock species, as well as farmed and wild-caught fish and other sentient aquatic species.

We welcome all abstracts addressing the welfare of food production animals during transport, marketing, and at the time of slaughter, as well as killing for welfare reasons or disease control.

We are particularly interested in abstracts highlighting novel research or findings related to:

  • Alternatives to CO2 for humane slaughter of pigs
  • Improved slaughter methods for poultry
  • Novel stunning methods
  • High welfare catching and handling of poultry
  • Animal welfare during transport

Deadline for submission of abstracts is 28 June 2025
