The HSA has produced an online guide to electrical waterbath stunning of poultry which is aimed at those who perform various hands-on tasks with live birds as part of the poultry slaughter process and are therefore having a direct impact on the animals’ welfare at that time.

2015 Research Training Scholarship winner Awal Fuseini is working on developing a humane, safe and Halal-compliant method of pre-cut stunning for cattle and has recently had a paper on his project published in Meat Science.

The HSA’s Guidance Notes No 7 on Electrical Waterbath Stunning of Poultry are now available in French following a request by the French Ministry of Agriculture, Agrifood and Forestry.

The Humane Slaughter Association (HSA) has announced the awarding of a Dorothy Sidley Memorial Scholarship to Alexandra Bearman who is currently studying for her BVetMed degree at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC).
