At the 2015 GM held on 14th October it was agreed to modernise the constitution and to make the HSA into a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). The existing governance and management structures will remain the same, and all assets, responsibilities and liabilities of the existing HSA will be moved to the new HSA (CIO).

The HSA recently attended the Autumn Conference of the VPHA, and ran a stand there to promote our newest publications - the Guidance Notes No.7 on Electrical Waterbath Stunning of Poultry and the Technical Information Poster ‘Effective neck-cutting of poultry’, both of which assist official veterinarians in protecting animal welfare at slaughter, as per the new EC Regulation 1099/2009.
